Bridge

 The Bridge was created to “bridge” the gap between  4th– 8th grades and high school.

Students will meet with outstanding and dynamic tutors every Thursday. The goal is to prepare students for the routine and rigors of high school class work while learning, note taking, meeting deadlines, testing, doing science labs, and working with peers. Students will be given assignments to complete at home and turn in for a grade each week. Grades are not the focus at this stage but help to inform parents. Bridge courses are not intended to be “enrichment”, they are more like formal school with all of the expectations of homework and testing. This is the place to make mistakes and learn from them in a loving and Christian environment

ENROLLMENT for 2018-2019 Academic Year: 
April 1st to June 30th, $40 per family,  Late enrollment, July 1st to July 15th, $70 per family, Really Late enrollment,July 16th to Aug. 1, $100 per family. These fees are non-refundable. Space is limited.
-staff will crosscheck your class enrollment with the annual EN membership later this summer.

ORIENTATION and FINANCIAL COMMITMENT IS MANDATORY – There are no exceptions.  Please make arrangements to attend one of our orientations. We want you to be fully informed as you sign your financial commitment. All students and at least one parent are required to attend one of the Orientation meetings and sign the Statement of Cooperation, which is the agreement to abide by the Information, Conduct (student handbook) and Church Policy, located on www.enchea.com under the academics tab for Bridge.

JUNE 30TH, HEATHERWOOD BAPTIST CHURCH
Placement testing 12:30pm
Orientation 2:30pm

OR

JULY 24TH, HEATHERWOOD BAPTIST CHURCH, Fellowship Hall
Placement testing 5:30pm
Orientation 6:30pm

 

Financial commitment forms are signed at Orientation and include the following details: Tuition by course, Lab or Materials fees, building rental, and if applicable, monthly finance charge. Materials and Lab Fees: due July 15th, non-refundable.  The first tuition payment is due August 1st.  If classes are dropped for low enrollment, your fees are refundable. If you drop classes after July 15th you forfeit Materials and Lab fees.   If you drop classes after August 1st, you must still pay your first semester tuition.   Once classes begin, you are committed for one semester at a time. You must notify us by no later than November 10th, if you wish to drop classes for 2nd semester or you must still 2nd Semester tuition.

What classes are offered?  We are offering the following courses this year for 4th through 8th grade on Thursdays for 33 weeks

English – Grammar, Writing and Literature at four different levels
History – World History and and World Geography
Science – Science for 6th– 8th grade, General Science for 4th – 6th grade
Math –  Saxon 5/4, 6/5, 7/6, 8/7 Math and Algebra 1/2 (PreAlgebra)
Electives – Intro to Spanish, Intro to American Sign Language, Public Speaking Drama, Art and Martial Arts.

Do I have to sign up for all the classes?
No, you just pick and choose which classes that you would like for your student to take for a maximum of four.  There are multiple classes offered each of the time periods

Register for the subjects that you would like us to support you with or that you don’t feel comfortable teaching. The parent and student are responsible for making sure the student does their schoolwork during the week. The teacher presents the lessons and grades the student in an objective manner. Grades are available through the online grading program your tutor uses..  Homework assignments are emailed or posted on the grading program to the home so the parent is fully informed.  This will help you transition your student into being independently accountable for their work.

Do you separate the students by grade level?
The courses are identified for appropriate age range. You know best where your student will need to be placed, but please contact the tutor if needed. Tutor information is in the course descriptions packet.
