Who can join?: Eagles Nest Members in good standing. Explorers Co-op is open to grades PK-12, with childcare for infants and toddlers. (Note: ENCHEA Members may only be a part of either Explorers or Voyagers co-op, not both.)
What we are: Family!
Explorers is a homeschool enrichment cooperative within Eagle’s Nest Christian Home Educators’ Association (ENCHEA). Each 6-week term, we EXPLORE a new, member-selected unit via creative learning styles in a fun, loving, (and fun-loving!), Christian environment. Our goal is to join families through learning and love of the Lord. We want families to build relationships, enrich social aspects of the homeschooling experience, and feel connected within the homeschool community.
When we meet: Three, 6-week terms per year, meeting once per week
Tuesdays 10:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Where we meet:
Royal Baptist Church
70 Mayo Royal Industrial Blvd
Newnan, GA 30263
Cost: $50 – Annual Family Fee (discounts provided at various times), plus Class Fee (per child, per term). Class fees are $5 or $15 per unit study (6 weeks) to cover the supply costs.
Format: Explorers Teams divide children by age and/or grade level (whichever is appropriate for the child); class sizes vary due to participation, with a cap at 15 students per team. Each team is named after a famous historical explorer. All school age students (K-8) will study the same unit, at grade level through means of art, history, sciences, and other applied learning. The Pre-K class will have age-appropriate lessons, sometimes (but not always) related to the unit study. Babies and Toddlers will be cared for in a nursery setting.
The below table represents the typical plan, the Explorers Staff does split age groups/grades as needed.
|Team Name||Ages||Grade||Class Fee per Child/Unit|
|Lewis & Clark||12-14||7th/8th||$15|
|Admiral Byrd||14+||High School||$15 + one time materials fee (TBD)|
Explorers Co-op meets from mid-morning to early afternoon with two learning blocks, a meeting at “The Well” for moms, and a family, picnic-style lunch. Everyone works together to make this happen. There are opportunities for multi-age as well as age-level interaction through group assembly, classes, lunch, playground time, field trips, field days, and service projects. Each seven-week unit includes 1 Plan & Play Day, 4 Class Days, and 1 Explorers Fellowship Day (optional).
